Commercial Pilots Licence CPL(H)

All flight training and assessment conducted pursuant to Part 141 of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations 1998 (CASR)
Description
The CPL(H) allows you to make a career of flying and fly for financial reward for any AOC holder in a single pilot operation.
There are two options when completing a CPL(H) both require you to: –
- Be at least 18 years of age (at the time of completion)
- Pass 7 theory examinations
(Aircraft General Knowledge, Aerodynamics, Human Factors, Navigation, Meteorology, Operations Performance and Planning and Air Law) - Pass a flight test with a CASA delegated Flight Examiner (FE)
and the following flight minimums: –
Option 1)
- Complete 150 flight hours, consisting of the following: –
- 70 hours in a helicopter (80 can be in a fixed wing aircraft)
- 25 hours solo in a helicopter
- 10 hours solo navigation in a helicopter
(one flight must be at least 150nm and landed at 2 other locations)
Option 2)
- Complete 105 flight hours, consisting of at least:
- All 105 hours in a helicopter
- 25 hours solo flying
- 10 hours of solo navigation flying
(one flight must be at least 150nm and landed at 2 other locations)
Note: Option 2 has the following conditions: –
- The first 15 hours must be in the same type of helicopter
- No more than 2 types of helicopters can be flown during your training
- The 2 types must be flown at least 20 hours each
- The final 30 hours must be flown within the previous 3 months of your flight test date
Additional requirements for the grant of a licence are as follows: –
- Apply for an Aviation Reference Number (ARN). (Obtained from the CASA website, this will be your licence number)
- Pass a Class 1 Aviation Medical (conducted by a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner)
- Hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC). (Required to access active areas of airports, involves back ground checks)
- Be able to speak English to at least a Level 6 Proficiency standard.
